Conference in Copenhagen

On May 14th and 15th I will be in Copenhagen (DK) attending the workshop Shaping Knowledge: Socio-technical Epistemology

This interdisciplinary workshop will be organized around three thematic tracks (gendered knowledge, socio-technical bodies, and visualization and risk) that enable philosophers and science and technology studies theorists to collectively explore the following questions: How does human embodiment shape knowledge?  Can technical processes reproduce all aspects of human embodiment, or is the ideal of complete reproducibility premised upon faulty assumptions about conceptual and empirical matters?  How can the study of sex and gender inform our understanding of epistemology? Can contemporary socio-technical bodies be adequately understood when analyzed through traditional philosophical and sociological categories, or does the rapid pace of innovation necessitate the invention of new terms and ideas? What role does visualization play in the production of technical and scientific knowledge? What is a body of knowledge?
